Today is the 3rd day after my implant. The Glasscock bandage is off and so is the gauze. The incision looks good. My vestibular system seems to be improving dramatically as I am much more balanced. The biggest thing I noticed is that if I overdo something (I got up, walked around and vacuumed) my tinnitus screams at me. It goes away once I lay down and rest. My own body screaming at me, go figure.
I go for a CT Scan on 7/7 so they can get a clear view of the electrode and arrays. The Med-El engineer will use that to calculate exactly where the arrays are located and all of that fun stuff so that, hopefully, when the device is activated, sounds will sound good. I hope for normal, clear sounds from the get go but am fully prepared for the extensive rehab that typically comes with the implant. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst, right?
But today, I feel pretty good. I need a shower but that has to wait for 2 more days. Only 9 more days before activation.
